Rob Sheward 1940 - 2016

Today was the funeral, at Coleshill, of our resident drummer Rob Sheward. Always found at the front of the church when we have had special services playing his drum kit. What many did not know is that Rob once supported the Beatles in a support band. His contribution to these services is now only a memory and he will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with Pauline and all the family.
In case you missed Rob here is a poignant reminder of the joy he brought to our services taken in November 2014.

New doors

11/10/2016

New fire doors have been fitted to the kitchen area of the chapel. This upgrade has replaced some old fire doors with new oak veneered unit which are fully compatible with current regulation. The one between the hall and the kitchen even has a window in it which will help passers through to see if there are others coming through the door. Next time you are in the chapel do pop in an admire them.

International Poetry Day - October coffee morning

A busy day which raised a total of £82 for the M éniè re's Society A couple of poems were read in recognition of it being International Poetry Day. Quite busy and lots of people chatting; perhaps discussion holidays and recent events.

Coffee in Heaven
You’ll be greeted
by a nice cup of coffee
when you get to heaven
and strains of angelic harmony.

But wouldn’t you be devastated
if only they serve decaffeinated
while from the percolators of hell

your soul was assaulted
by Satan’s fresh espresso smell?

A Hand in the Bird
I am a maiden who is forty,
And a maiden I shall stay.
There are some who call me haughty,
But I care not what they say.

I was running the tombola
At our church bazaar today,
And doing it with gusto
In my usual jolly way…

When suddenly, I knew not why,
There came a funny feeling
Of something crawling up my thigh!
I nearly hit the ceiling!

A mouse! I thought. How foul! How mean!
How exquisitely tickly!
Quite soon I know I’m going to scream.
I’ve got to catch it quickly.

I made a grab. I caught the mouse,
Now right inside my knickers.
A mouse my foot! It was a HAND!
Great Scott! It was the vicar’s!
