A lovely evening when a lot of people gathered from all over the village and a little further afield. Rev Derek Shaw started proceedings with a prayer of thanksgiving for the food and much hilarity and good conversation ensued. With Mavis Coggins recovering at home the kitchen team, ended up being not one but two down as Mrs Wagg had to go to hospital earlier in the afternoon as well. However despite these set backs the service was just as smooth as usual, many thanks. The post supper lunch quiz bought new winners and was a closely fought event but in the end was a runaway win. Second prize was more closely fought and the third prize play off question was to guess how many miles Coleshill was from John O'Groats. (567 miles in case your interested) A lovely Sunday with two well attended services. A nice load of food has been given which will be sent to the food bank in Tamworth. All the food was requested to be none perishable and this was reflected by the lack of usual country based free produce. However a few marrows and apples still managed to sneak onto the entrance table along with the traditional display on the altar which contains the lump of coal, loaf of bread and glass of water.
Our theme this year is the ‘Church Year’ and we have depicted through floral displays the most significant festivals in the Christian Church Year. Starting in the porch let us take you on virtual tour around the chapel. Many thanks to all those who have given their time and talents to make our chapel look so beautiful and to provide us with refreshments. Flower arrangements: Jane Taylor, Carol Byng, Maureen Hawthorne, Sue Arnold, Pauline Sheward, Linda Comfort, Chris Quinn, Mary Evans, Carol Morgan, Jacky Adams, Lynda Gascoigne Artistic advice: Marina Dowling, Mairead Kelsey
A lovely day once again to meet raising £98 this month for Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. A surprise visit by the local constabulary livened up the proceedings even if the visit was so brief some people missed them. Jack entertained us with his regular joke slot and many discussed the holidays and bemoaned the return to work for some.
