Great activity at the Methodist chapel as walkers, cyclists and a few motorists converged to start the Rogation walk. The valiant kitchen volunteers were working flat out to provide delicious hot toast, coffee and tea to fuel the engines! Suitably fed the next stop was going to be Lea Marston and St Johns. Groups were arriving and recovered by relaxing in the churchyard with bacon butties. Jo was the route finder and following the map led us through some little used footpaths. On to St Cuthberts and we passed farmers working the fields. News and pictures - roving reporter Anne | Ploughmans lunches were available and after a cuppa the groups set off again. Up the steep hill to St Leonard's where we got an amazing view back towards St Cuthberts. Downhill all the way now and a pleasant walk past Shustoke reservoir and up through the meadows of Hill Farm. Along a few more little known footpaths and arriving at St Giles at five minutes to four. The service planned for four o'clock was delayed while walkers revived themselves with a good selection of cakes and a very welcome cuppa! |
