Our usual congregation was swelled by family and friends joining us to celebrate the dedication service of Ruby Elizabeth. Mike Crockett led the service which contained some more unusual hymns even if they were to tunes we knew as well as firm favourites. Afterwards a lovely buffet lunch was enjoyed by all and the star of the day was much admired wearing her 1860's family heirloom christening gown - so small Ruby had to be around six weeks old at most to fit into it. Ruby was much passed around and did not complain once!
Despite the heavy snowfall the morning service was well attended although a few of our collectors failed to make it as well as a few locals who sensibly stayed at home. Peter Tonks gave a lovely service based on choices and even supplied cereals to taste at the start of the service using these to illustrate the choices we make.
Congratulations to our collectors. We welcomed the following new collectors - Ruby, Noah and James We thank the following collectors for their continued support - Frankie, Cameron, Xavier, Ella, Sophie, Kieran and Grace. A special long service certificate for eight years as a supporting collector was made to Ella. A busy morning with over 30 present with much talk of the recent New Year and Christmas festivities. Another attraction for many was the chance to hold two week old Ruby Elizabeth who was attending the first of many coffee mornings. Mummy certainly did not have tired arms by the close! Jack regaled us with his usual humour slot reading us a rather tongue in check advert for a reitrement home he had found along with a clever old farmer who kept a pond. When he found a bunch of young ladies skinny dipping in the pond he was quick witted enough to claim he had come to the pond to feed his aligator which had the desired result! The raffle was well supported raising £75 for Action in Children.
