Ring pull collection

31/5/2017

At Easter we sent off a jiffy bag full of ring pulls to the Purple Community Fund in Southampton as the container was completely full..... They have now made it to the Philippines and a letter of thanks has been sent back to the chapel.
We are continuing to collect ringpulls as they are worth 3p each to the Purple Community Fund who will send them to the women homeworkers in the Philippines.....so bring your ring pulls from drinks cans only please, to the collecting container which is back in the chapel kitchen.

Bring and share lunch

21/5/2017

After the service today lead by Farai we had our annual bring and share lunch. The table was once again groaning with food and we even had puddings. We can independently confirm the rumour that Mavis was seen to eat at least three meringues.

May coffee morning

4/5/2017

Another lovely day for the coffee morning. Jean and Beryl had been busy baking cakes to raise money for our own Methodist Church. A good turnout and the total was boosted by the sale of home garden produce, particularly the auction of Anne's jars of marmalade. We made £124.

Rogation challenge walk

1/5/2017

With the day starting cool and wet we were blessed with nice walking weather which seemed to only get better. Soon with the sun shining upon us, over 100 walkers took up the challenge to walk the Rogation route. Toast at the Methodist Chapel set us off and bacon rolls at St Johns Lea Marston got the morning done. The walk to St Cuthberts Shustoke for ploughmans lunch seems to have been diverted to a few of the local pubs as well, but the wine and strawberries at St Leonards Over Whitacre got people ready for the return back to St Giles Nether Whitacre. Here the tea and cake helped people recover before the final service. The bells welcomed people back and the short service - thanksgiving for the finish and the day! was led by Gill. The odd few spots of rain did not seem to spoil the day and all most made it to the end.

Whitacre Congregation is a vibrant mix of young and old who enjoy meeting for Sunday worship. Do come and join us.
