Messy Church

19/3/2016

Did you manage to get to Messy church in the Methodist hall? If you didn't you missed a treat. Sixteen children, their parents and grandparents created Easter banners, baskets and nests. It was a time of happy creativity. The children then listened to a story about Gus and his clean sheets while their tea was prepared. The sandwiches, cakes and biscuits were eaten with relish. We raised a generous donations for which we are most grateful. The next Messy Church will take place in the late summer and we hope that you will come along and join us then.

Womens World Day of Prayer

4/3/2016

Around 45 people celebrated the Women's World Day of Prayer on Friday March 4th at the Methodist Church. Wil had decorated the church beautifully with knitted Cuban banners and pictures of children. The theme was chosen by Cuban women and was Receive children, Receive Me.  Jessica Smith and Hannah Hall, two of our younger worshippers took part. Gill Noble was the leader and Marjorie Walton led the reflections. Many of the hymns were new to us but the choir led the singing and the music was enjoyed by all.
As we entered the church we were asked to write our name on a paper lily and then these flowers were taken home by  members of the congregation who were to pray for the person named on their flower. Over a cup of tea afterwards you could identify the person, if you did not know them. It led to a positive period of contact and we hope too, you will notice the power of prayer in your life as a result.
£127.10 was sent off to the nominated Womens World Day in Prayer charities.

March Coffee morning

3/3/2016

We had a great turnout in spite of the chilly, drizzly morning and it was good to see one or two new faces as well as a goodly number of 'regulars'. Fiona, hosting with Mary Payne, treated us to her home baked biscuits and fabulous meringues as she usually does when it's her turn - maybe this explains the full house!
A few of us popped into the chapel during coffee morning where Wil was in full swing decorating for Women's World Day of Prayer and what an amazing job she made.
The schoolroom full of folk and chatter and the chapel full of peace and beautiful flowers.
By the time we left, the sun was shining and £112 raised for Canine Partners.

Whitacre Congregation is a vibrant mix of young and old who enjoy meeting for Sunday worship. Do come and join us.
