Ramble day

31/7/2016

A lovely sunny afternoon which turned out to be a perfect day for our circuit walk. Lead by Keith Woodward a large group of us meandered around the village with both young and older members completing the walk despite the nettle infested path we encountered along side Shustoke reservoir.
The group returned to the chapel to find Phil in charge of the BBQ and Pauline in charge of food (and Phil!). Our thanks to them as we were all fed well. Finally our evening service was led by Rev Peter Bates whose sermon about Moses also touched on the tourist delights of Bournemouth, whilst explaining about our need to be committed to what changes we undertook.
A lovely pleasant way for all to meet, walk and talk.

Gardeners

24/7/2016

Our church grounds once again look a real picture thanks mainly to Mike and Jackies green fingers. There are some new flower beds at the end of the chapel walls and Mike is proudly mowing around the orchids which have now just finished flowering. Do take time to reflect on their labours which make our grounds really so well kept.

Quiet Day

23/7/2016

Castle Bromwich organised a quiet day at Nether Whitacre today. They brought packed lunches which they were able to enjoy outside on the lawn, as the weather was so lovely. The group explored different ways of praying and shared communion together.

Shared Lunch Goodbyes

17/7/2016

Today was our final service to be lead by Rev. Andi Smith. He leaves us after two years and we finished our last service sharing lunch with him afterwards. A well attended service despite a number of us being away and during the lunch a small token was presented to Andi.

This limerick perhaps sums up our thoughts

There was a young man called Andi,
Who turned out to be quite handy,
But give him a date
If he came he was late
This cycling young man called Andi

This lovely young man, truth to tell,
We got on with really quite swell.
But he sought pastures new,
Left us here, the few
We send him our love, wish him well.

July Coffee Morning - Goodbye Diane

7/7/2016

Coffee morning today raised £70 for Action for Children. A bit thin in turnout today perhaps as the summer holidays start to happen. It was Diane's last day and a presentation of card and voucher was given to her from the chapel. She gave a thank you speech and saying that "Whitacre will always have a special place in her heart." Diane is moving on after 14 years and going to Solihull.
