Our open the book team went into Shustoke school. The story centred on the friends who lowered the lame man through the roof of a house in order for him to get close enough to Jesus to be healed. Getting the lame man down from the roof proved a challenge to the group using a washing airer and a dummy which was exchanged for the live lame man later on; the children joined in as "the crowd" to support the group - thank you.
Several people were away today but we still collected £125 for Sightsavers and had a good laugh with friends. Jane and Carol worked hard and there were some great raffle prizes. Perhaps they were unwanted Christmas gifts? Anyway they went to new homes. We had a visitor from Warm Hubs at Warwickshire and she enjoyed herself and approved the premises. We have received a grant from them towards the heating and will also be opening up the school room on the 3rd Thursday afternoon of each month, as a place for everyone to meet, chat and eat. Save on your heating and come to us. You can read or play many games together.
Whitacre Congregation is a vibrant mix of young and old who enjoy meeting for Sunday worship. Do come and join us.
