Mike and Anne led our service today looking towards the start of Lent. All were given a little bag which will remind us of things we can do or give up over the period. A reminder of the Sun being in our lives giving us much to be thankful for. The bag we could put our money in for our Water Aid lent collection and if we are planning to give up chocolate then we only have a few days to devour the chocolate included. Remember we have our Wednesday evening Lent studies starting Ash Wednesday too. Todays service was led by Rev Nick Jones who was celebrating Holy Communion with us. Much talk of his recent promotion to being superintendent of Sutton Circuit was made as well as celebrating Carols birthday with cake afterwards. Todays service led by Jean and John focused on Jesus and his love. Mention was also made of how something for nothing is not a reality and how commitment and work to both relationships and love is needed. Afterwards tea and special heart cakes were enjoyed along with the discussion around the hymns sung today and the Welsh success at the rugby yesterday much to Jeans pleasure. Once again our popular quiz night was back. This years teams had to have a name based on the three letters preset by our quizmaster which led to some different names to normal. Vince tasked us with a wide range of questions in five rounds plus a picture round which became very closely fought; only one mark ended up separating the top teams. However "ability gone west" won through and were awarded prizes. Our thanks to Vince for his questions and to all who helped tidy and clean up making the evening such a success. Open the book manned mainly by Methodist chapel personnel performed the first part of Joseph and his Dreamcoat to year 3 and 4 at Shustoke school. A few props were used from our Christmas nativity scene to bulk out the brothers.  A total of £106 raised to support Young Minds. A good mix of people attended to discuss their Spring plans.and even one doggie made a good turnout for the day. |
